Covenant Overview:
The Unaligned are not a monolithic entity. They are defined by the other Covenants soley by what they are not , and the Unaligned define themselves according to their own personal convictions.
Some lack a Covenant because they simply haven't found one to call their own, yet. Others want to 'take down the system', or perhaps they feel the rules either do not or should not apply to them. Still others are rebelling against their Sires. A few claim no Covenant because they are trying to create their own, with varying degrees of success. And still others consider themselves independant folk, and just don't see the need for more 'society' than what is provided at an Elysium.
Whatever the reason, the life of one of the Unaligned is never simple. They are often beset by members of the other Covenants looking for a new recruit. Those in power distrust them, viewing the Unaligned as rabble-rousing anarchists. It can be hard to accomplish certain goals without the backing of your Covenant - there are no 'built in' allies. Positions in Kindred society are hard to come by. And there is constant pressure to 'pick a side'.
Still, there is something to be said for being independant. The Unaligned do not have to worry about inter-Covenant conflicts. They have no-one to answer to, no suborninate to babysit. The only rules they worry about are the ones they make for themselves.
